In the cabin for the driver and front passenger, two luxurious “director’s chairs” are provided. And right behind them begins a real scope for imagination. As standard, the Mercedes-Benz R-Class comes as a variant with 5 seats, a large tailgate and an additional stowage box under the boot floor.

The interior design is built on a spectacular alternation of convex and concave surfaces, light and shadow, angular and rounded shapes. The designers were especially inspired by the idea of a kind of “horizontal muscle”, which found its expression in the vaulted design of the instrument panel, in the lining of the doors and the central tunnel. When working on the interior design of the Mercedes-Benz R-Class, they strictly adhered to the principle: “Everything that looks beautiful should be pleasant to the touch.” This is clearly visible on the switches and regulators, covered with a “pleasant to the touch varnish”, soft overlays, as well as decorative details made of aluminum or noble woods. Visual and tactile components are in perfect harmony here.
