The interior of the updated Mercedes S-class has also undergone a lot of improvements. The first thing that catches your eye is the now three-spoke steering wheel, on which the touchpads for controlling the media system are now located. In addition, a pair of 12.3-inch TFT displays for the infotainment system and a virtual instrument panel are placed side by side behind a common protective glass. Traditionally, the list of finishing materials has also been updated. A huge list of additional equipment has been replenished with the optional Energizing Comfort Control system, which manages the work of climate control and fragrance, heating, ventilation and massage in chairs, contour interior lighting and an audio system to create a certain atmosphere inside the car. In addition, the adaptive cruise control and the lane keeping system have been improved. A special mention is the Active Emergency Stop Assist system, which is able to park the sedan if the driver falls asleep at the wheel.

Serious innovations have also affected the engine compartment of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222. The range of available engines now includes 3.0-liter R6 diesel 6-cylinders producing between 286 and 340 horsepower.
