2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB Owner's Manual

The GLB is an ordinary crossover, which does not stand out among other similar cars, with its flamboyant appearance. A simple but attractive exterior, with a neat front part of the car and new LED optics and large nostrils of the front bumper. There are several packages to choose from – five to be exact. Their price has gone up a bit, but so has the price for a new car, which starts at $55,000.

The interior of the new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB is slightly reminiscent of retro style, but with modern elements. There are now large screens for the media and dashboard. In the center of the console there are three large deflectors, and on the panel itself there are wood inserts. The steering wheel has the ability to control the car’s systems without taking your eyes off the road. The lever on the steering wheel can be used to change the driving mode. The capacity of this model is designed for 5 or 7 people at an additional charge, but the third row will be able to accommodate passengers with a maximum height of 1.6 meters.

(Mercedes-Benz GLB) – crossover class “K2”. The official debut of the car took place in June 2019 in Salt Lake City.

Remember the GLB concept unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2019? So, take off all the concept car “makeup” from it in the form of evil tires, additional roof light and slightly modified bumpers, and voila – you have a production car in front of you.

As the name suggests, this Mercedes will take its place between such crossovers as the Mercedes GLC and GLA. This is also evidenced by the dimensions of the car: its length (4634 mm) is only 36 mm shorter than the larger GLC, and the wheelbase is 2829 mm versus 2873 mm for the crossover Tseshka, it is already 1834 mm / 1890 mm wide, but at the same time 14 mm higher (1658 mm). Well, for example, the dimensions of the “baby” GLA: length – 4424 mm, width – 1804 mm, height – 1494 mm and wheelbase – 2699 mm.

The new crossover also stands out from the model line with its square appearance. With this, the Daimlerians wanted to emphasize the more “adventure” nature of the car. Yes, yes, the manufacturer positions it as a car for a young family, as well as for a friendly company that loves outdoor activities and frequent trips to nature.

The interior is minimalist, in the spirit of the latest Benzes: there is the same wide and frameless panel that combines two 10.25-inch screens (virtual dashboard and MBUX multimedia system), the same convenient touchpad on the center console and the same round air duct deflectors reminiscent of turbine blades. In general, everything is stylish and modern.

Unlike all the same brothers GLC and GLA – GLB is a seven-seater (for an extra charge). True, Mercedes-Benz immediately warns that people with a height of no more than 1.68 m can be accommodated more or less comfortably in the “gallery”. can move back and forth at a distance of 140 mm.

The Germans did not indicate the volume of the trunk behind the third row, gently hinting to us that it simply is not there. But with the backs folded down, please – 560 liters. And this is not the limit, pushing the middle row all the way forward, we get +179 l (739 l). The maximum volume is 1755 liters. In addition, the transportation of large long loads for the GLB is not a problem – by paying extra, we get a folding front seat.

Equipment to match the premium brand: adaptive cruise, seat massage, Multibeam matrix optics, lane keep, keyless entry, 360 cameras and much more.

A little about technology. The crossover is built on the MFA2 platform, like the A-class, which means basic front-wheel drive and a transverse engine. Suspension – McPherson front and multi-link rear. As an option, an adaptive chassis: the driver can choose between a comfortable and sporty setting using the Dynamic Select switch.

The power plants are similar to the co-platforms: gasoline 1.3 M282 (GLB 200) with a capacity of 163 hp. and 250 Nm with an old 7-speed “robot” DCT; 2-liter M260 (GLB 250) with a return of 224 hp and 350 Nm. But such a unit is already interacting with the new 8G-DCT robotic gearbox, however, like the two-liter diesel engine OM645: GLB 200d – 150 hp. 320 Nm and GLB 220d – 190 hp 400 Nm.

Initial versions have only front-wheel drive, while more powerful ones have all-wheel drive. The proprietary 4Matic system is implemented as a multi-plate clutch for connecting the rear axle, operating with a constant preload.
