Mercedes-Benz C218 Owner's Manual

Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class (Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class) – rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive sedan class “E”. The world premiere of the restyled version of the second generation of the model took place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June 2014.

Only two years have passed since the debut of the current generation CLS-Class until its first restyling (by automotive standards, the period is short), so the designers of the German company did not make any serious changes to the appearance of the car. They corrected only the front part, leaving one cross member, made the air intakes more massive and drew new optics. In addition, the taillights have also been slightly modified (with dimming along the edges), and all other innovations have fallen on the interior. Although even there they are cosmetic, not revolutionary.

One of the technical innovations of the CLS sedan was the appearance in the list of equipment of intelligent optics Multibeam. It consists of 24 independent LEDs (with 255 brightness levels), the control of which is entrusted to the camera, which constantly monitors the traffic situation and road signs. In addition, the navigation system also participates in the control of the light, giving the command in advance to change the direction of the light depending on the steepness of the turn. At the same time, the system tries to work so as not to blind drivers of oncoming cars.

The engine range of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class (C218) consists of six units, two of which are gasoline. We are talking about a 3-liter turbocharged V6, issuing 333 hp. With. power and 480 Nm of torque, as well as a 5.5-liter V8 with 408 “horses” and 600 Nm. As for diesel engines, they are represented by two 4-cylinder designs with 170 and 204 hp. With. power (400 and 500 Nm of torque, respectively) and a V-shaped “six”, in the arsenal of which is 258 hp. With. and 620 Nm. Well, and, of course, one cannot but mention the charged versions of AMG, to which the Germans sent a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with 585 hp. With. power and 800 Nm of torque (before restyling it was 557 and 720, respectively). And if the most powerful engine is paired with a 7-speed AMG Speedshift “automatic”, then all other units instead of the previous 7G-Tronic received a 9-mortar 9G-Tronic.
