The key feature of the intelligent control concept used in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is quick access to the most frequently used functions. For this reason, the system has been deliberately designed around the principle of redundancy: for example, the driver can control the radio, TV, CD/DVD player, telephone and navigation system, depending on his preferences, using conventional switches, steering wheel buttons or the advanced COMAND system. The direct selection buttons on the center console are ergonomically positioned to allow the driver to operate them almost without looking. The control of the climate control system, which is included in the basic package, can also be carried out in two ways: using the COMAND system or switches, combined in an elegant panel located under the ventilation system deflectors.
