Mercedes-Benz C117 (CLA-Class) – class D sedan with front or all-wheel drive. The world premiere of the model took place at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013.

When creating the CLA, Mercedes-Benz designers and engineers set themselves the task of building a car that would look like the CLS model, but be smaller in size and, accordingly, be lighter and more aerodynamically efficient. Smaller, because it was built on a “short” MFA front-wheel drive platform with McPherson struts in the front suspension and a multi-link design in the rear. As a result, the CLA is 4630 mm long, 1780 mm wide and 1438 mm high. And since the Germans coped with one task, they also managed to do another – the CLA drag coefficient is 0.23, which can be safely called one of the smallest (if not the smallest) indicators among production cars.

As for the design of the interior of the Mercedes-Benz CLA, in this respect, the designers did not create revolutions, making it very similar to the interior of the A- and B-Class. The sedan comes standard with six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, Collision Prevention Assist and many other innovative systems. But there is also something to choose from the list of options – active cruise control, tracking systems for “dead” zones and road markings, a panoramic roof, a multimedia navigation system, and so on.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the new generation 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The principle of its work has changed somewhat. If earlier the torque, if necessary, was transferred to the front axle, now it is taken away by the rear. 4Matic is included in the work in a variety of situations, distributing the moment in a wide range of proportions. It can be 100:0, and 50:50, and 60:40 … Of course, the ESP systems, the 4ETS traction control system, and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) take the most active part in the operation of the all-wheel drive. Moreover, the new generation 4Matic, according to Mercedes-Benz, is 25% lighter than any of the competitors’ all-wheel drive systems.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA engine range is entirely woven from in-line 4-cylinder engines. The base is a 1.6-liter gasoline unit, which produces, depending on the boost, 122 and 156 hp. With. power.
