The W210 model appeared in 1995. Its appearance surprised fans of the brand. It became larger, and its exterior design was updated, there were round headlights. The bumper is equipped with regular fog lights. The new car allows choosing from a wide range of different engines and transmissions. The most popular of them is the 4.2 liter unit, the most affordable in mass production. A 5-speed automatic transmission is fitted to this motor as a standard option. In this model, for the first time introduced all-wheel drive system 4Matic, which is further used in the model W211. The automatic transmission here is quite reliable, due to the lack of lockup torque converter. This prevents it from overheating, which leads to rapid wear of the unit.
